Student Pastor Joe Wilder
Pastor Joe is our full-time Student Pastor here at CBC. Pastor Joe spends most of his time with the middle/high school students while assisting in adminstrative needs as well. Joe has a passion for the youth in the New River Valley and is excited to reach and introduce them to life of following Christ. He is married to the love of his life Marissa and their family is made complete with their 5 year old son, Noah!

Schools Attended?

In 2005 Pastor Joe graduated from Lee High School and completed his 2 year certificate from Mountain Empire Community College. In 2008, he graduated from Virginia Tech with my Bachelor’s degree in History, Political Science and Leadership. In 2010, he finished my Master’s of Education at Virginia Tech. In 2018, he completed at Graduate Certificate in Appalachian Studies from Radford University. He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Ministry from Piedmont International University.

How did Pastor Joe and his wife meet?

Pastor Joe and Marissa both went to Lee High School. They became friends through marching band and started dating in 2004. They got married in 2010 and live with their fun, rambunctious, five-year-old son, Noah.


What hobbies does Pastor Joe enjoy outside of church?

Pastor Joe loves to read books, watch movies and tv shows, and get out and enjoy the great outdoors.


Favorite book of the Bible?

"My favorite book is the book of Matthew. It gives such a valuable look at the ministry of Christ. I have always been motivated and driven by the words from Matthew 7:7-8."


What is Pastor Joe's vision for Crossfire Student Ministries?

"My desire is for students at Calvary Baptist Church to fulfil our purpose of loving God and loving others around them. Through our ministry students can grow into disciples that will reach their schools with the love of Christ."
